Federal President Gauck is called on to speak up for Human Rights and the Release of imprisoned Journalists in Ethiopia

Ethiopian Human Rights Committee and German PEN Centre called on Federal President Joachim Gauck in an open letter to discuss human right issues on his visit to Ethiopia this weekend.

Furthermore, EHRC and PEN call on Joachim Gauck to insist on the immediate release of journalists Eskinder Nega, Reeyot Alemu and Woubshet Taye (tortured under arrest) and urge the ethiopian authorities to implement the United Nations Convention against Torture, ratified by Ethiopia in 1994.
